La Route du Louvre is a spring road race linking Lille and Lens, organised by the Hauts-de-France athletics league, with the next edition set for May 2027. Alongside the running races there are walking routes, so athletes and whole families take part. The course heads south from the Flemish capital into the former mining basin with its slag heaps and miners' villages, with the Louvre-Lens museum as the symbol of the finish. Lille tempts with its Vieille Bourse, the Grand'Place and Méert waffles, while the Nord-Pas-de-Calais mining basin is UNESCO-listed.
