The 20 km de Bruxelles has been held on the last Sunday of May since 1980 and draws tens of thousands of runners. Start and finish are by the Cinquantenaire arch; the course runs through the centre, along Avenue Louise, through the Bois de la Cambre and back, with climbs and descents that make it tougher than it looks. The mood is a national celebration, with many running for charities. Brussels means the Grand-Place, the Atomium, the Magritte and comics museums, Belgian beer and waffles.
