The 4 Mijl van Groningen is a short, fast 6.4 km (four English miles) point-to-point from the suburb of Haren into central Groningen, finishing on the Vismarkt. Held on the second Sunday of October since 1987, it is a true city festival: around 30,000 runners, live music and DJs, and dense crowds the whole way. Places sell out early. Groningen is a young student city of canals, the Martinitoren tower and lively cafés, so there is plenty to celebrate with after the finish.
