Å-stadsloppet is Örebro's big autumn race, organised by KFUM Örebro Friidrott since 2006. Runners choose between 5 km, 10 km and a half marathon, with a 1.4 km KidsRun for children, and start and finish at Tybblelundshallen. The route weaves through city districts and green pockets, past the wooden houses of the Wadköping open-air museum and along the Rynningeviken bay, where autumn colours are at their best. It is a friendly, club-run event where first-timers line up next to runners chasing a personal best. Örebro sits on the Svartån river, with a mighty castle on an island in the middle of town, the mushroom-shaped Svampen water tower and walks along Lake Hjälmaren.
