The Achenseelauf is a classic lap of the Achensee in early September. In 2025 its 24th edition drew more than 1,500 runners. Start and finish are in Pertisau, and the 23 km loop mixes asphalt, gravel paths and forest trails for about 200 m of climbing, with turquoise water always beside you and the Rofan and Karwendel ranges overhead. If the full lap is too much, there is a 14.5 km run, a two-person relay and short kids' races. The Achensee is known as the 'Tyrolean sea', a place for boat trips, rides on the historic Achenseebahn cog railway and hikes in the surrounding mountains.
