The AJ Bell Great South Run is the world's best-known 10-mile (about 16 km) road race and part of the Great Run series. The flat, very fast course threads through historic Portsmouth — past the naval dockyard and the legendary HMS Victory, then along the Southsea seafront with Channel views. The 10-mile distance is the perfect bridge between 10K and a half marathon: mass, accessible and genuinely PB-friendly. Held in mid-October, with a friendly, salt-air atmosphere.
