Alcoy sits in a narrow mountain valley at the confluence of three rivers, giving the course noticeable elevation changes and views of its 19th-century iron viaducts. The Unión Alcoyana Seguros half marathon is the city's longest-running road race, drawing roughly 1,500 participants each year. The route winds through most of the city's neighborhoods, including Plaza de España and the university campus area. The race traditionally closes out the running calendar for the Comtat region.
