The Maratona do Algarve is a new race on Portugal's south coast: its first edition is scheduled for 6 December 2026, organised by GlobalSport. The programme includes a marathon, half marathon, 10 km and 5 km, so there is room both for first-timers and for those wanting to close the season with a long one. Start and finish are at Vilamoura Marina among the yachts, and the Algarve's December weather is usually mild and sunny — ideal for running. Around it lie golden beaches and cliffs, golf courses, the Roman ruins of Cerro da Vila in Vilamoura itself and the fish restaurants of nearby Albufeira and Quarteira.
