The Alytus Marathon takes place in mid-June with distances for everyone: a 500 m kids' run, 7 and 14 km, a half marathon and the classic 42.195 km; hundreds of runners lined up in 2026. It's organised by the Maratomanija running community, which stages friendly races all over Lithuania where atmosphere counts as much as the clock — 'not just a competition, but an experience'. The course runs through the green surroundings of the town, and Dzūkija is known for its pine forests, rivers and gentle hills. Alytus sits on the Nemunas: the Nemunas Loops Regional Park is nearby, and the spa resort of Druskininkai, with its water park and mineral springs, is less than an hour away.
