The half marathon of the TCS Amsterdam Marathon, one of Europe's big running weekends. Start and finish are at the 1928 Olympic Stadium, with Vondelpark and the museum quarter along the way. The course is flat and October in Amsterdam is cool — good conditions for a PB — and finishing on the stadium track under the stands is unforgettable. Amsterdam needs no introduction: canals, the Rijksmuseum and Van Gogh Museum, bikes everywhere and café terraces — a city worth staying a couple of extra days for.
