Athens Half Marathon

The Athens Half Marathon takes place in early to mid-March and draws thousands of runners — it is the Greek capital's big spring race. It starts at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier on Syntagma Square, in front of Parliament, and the course runs through central Athens on fully closed streets. In 2026 Greece's Panagiotis Bitados set a course record of 1:04:41 at the head of an all-Greek podium. Alongside the half there is a 5 km, a family run and a Special Olympics race, so everyone can join in. After the finish, there is the Acropolis and Plaka, Monastiraki market, the Acropolis Museum and tavernas with views of the Parthenon.
