Ultra Blue Island by Azores Trail Run is a spring trail festival on Faial island in the Azores, with distances from 10 km to 118 km. The courses lead to the remote Caldeira at the island's centre, where only your footsteps break the silence, to the lunar landscapes of the Capelinhos volcano and along paths overlooking the Atlantic and the cone of Pico across the channel. The finish is in the heart of Horta near its famous marina. Horta is a legendary stop for transatlantic sailors: see the quay painted by yacht crews, have a gin at Peter Café Sport, take the ferry to Pico and head out to sea for whale watching.
