The Balaton Marathon and Half Marathon take place in mid-November, based in Siófok on the Aranypart promenade; 2026 saw the 23rd edition. It is the last major road race of the Hungarian autumn, and the organisers bill the lakeside courses as extremely fast — a perfect chance to close the season with a PB. Runners follow the shore of Lake Balaton with views across the water to the Tihany hills, and the cool November air only helps. Siófok is a beach-and-party resort in summer; out of season it offers quiet promenades, the region's thermal baths and the wineries of the north shore.
