The Barcelona Marathon passes right in front of the Sagrada Família at kilometer fourteen — the course's highest point and arguably its most memorable shot. From there the route winds between Montjuïc and the Arc de Triomf, while March in the city brings near-ideal running temperatures of 10–17°C. The finish area is modest by Majors standards, but come evening it's easy to find fellow runners over a plate of pasta — that's already part of the local ritual.

There's no single go-to spot, but a key quirk: Barcelona restaurants often don't open until 8pm — book your carb-loading dinner ahead of time.

After the finish

Aquarius isotonic drink, water, and fruit at the finish by the Arc de Triomf.

Jessie Benson (The Right Fits)2024

My 44th marathon. The expo line was surprisingly long — an hour and a half in the rain — but I finished in 3:51 and felt strong the whole way.

The best race of my life — a flat, fast, warm course. I'd recommend it to anyone looking for exactly that kind of marathon.
