The Bath Half has been run every March since 1982 and draws well over ten thousand runners. It is the South West's biggest one-day charity fundraiser and a favourite London Marathon warm-up. Start and finish are in Royal Victoria Park, and two mostly flat laps wind through honey-coloured Georgian streets: Great Pulteney Street, Queen Square, Green Park and the bridges over the Avon. The only real climb is the final drag up Royal Avenue, rewarded by a roaring finish in front of the Royal Crescent. Bath is a UNESCO World Heritage city, with Roman Baths, a famous abbey, Pulteney Bridge and the rooftop Thermae spa for a well-earned soak.
