Běchovice–Praha is a legendary race held since 1897 and regarded as the oldest in Central Europe; it takes place in late September and draws thousands of runners. The 10 km course runs from suburban Běchovice along the road into Prague, finishing in Žižkov, with a rolling profile and tricky climbs and descents that punish over-ambition. For Czech runners it is an almost sacred tradition: Olympic champions have raced here, and finishing 'Běchovice' is a lifelong point of pride. The atmosphere is festive, with plenty of spectators along the way. Afterwards: the Žižkov TV Tower, Vítkov Hill with its equestrian statue of Jan Žižka and Prague's beer halls.
An easy run with a local club the day before the race — the best way to shake out the legs and meet the city.
