Bieg Niepodległości is one of Poland's biggest and most emotional races: in 2026 it reaches its 36th edition on 11 November, with the start fittingly at 11:11. Organised by the Warsaw Marathon Foundation, the main race is 10 km on a PZLA-certified course through the centre of the capital, plus an Independence Mile and Nordic walking. Runners wear white and red shirts, turning the field into a giant living flag, with flags and festive spirit all along the route. Anyone unable to come to Warsaw can run it virtually during the following week. November Warsaw means the Royal Castle, the Old Town, Łazienki Park and cosy milk bars serving hot żurek.
An easy run with a local club the day before the race — the best way to shake out the legs and meet the city.
