Bodom Trail is held in early May on Ascension Day in the forests around Lake Bodom in Espoo. Adults choose 12 or 21 km, children run 6 km, and the day before there is a team race for colleagues and friends. Back in 2015 more than 900 runners started, making it Finland's largest trail race at the time. The course is beautiful but demanding: roots, rocks, short climbs and patches of spring mud on forest singletrack. Espoo is the gateway to Nuuksio National Park with its lakes and rocky ridges, and Helsinki is just next door.
