Bokeški Maraton (Boka Marathon) is a winter running weekend in mid-December: the 5 km and 10 km run on Saturday, the marathon and half marathon on Sunday morning, plus the Boka Mile for kids and short-distance fans. The AIMS-certified course is billed as fast and flat, running from Tivat to Kotor right along the bay, with mountains plunging straight into the water. Some bibs are donated to charity in partnership with the Budi Human foundation. In December the Bay of Kotor is quiet and crowd-free — perfect for exploring Kotor's Old Town, climbing to St John's Fortress and lingering in the cafés of Porto Montenegro marina.
