Bornholm Backyard is a last-one-standing ultra at the end of summer. Backyard format: a 6.7 km loop every hour, on the hour, until only one runner is still going out. There is no finish line: the winner is whoever completes one more loop than everyone else. Bornholm is a granite island in the Baltic: fortified round churches, the ruins of Hammershus, herring smokehouses in Gudhjem and Svaneke and Denmark's best sunsets.
