Born in 2013 as the Bournemouth Marathon, the festival now runs as Run Bournemouth in early October. The full marathon was dropped in 2020, so the half is the headline race, alongside a 10K, a Saturday dusk 5K and children's races. The half starts near Hengistbury Head, runs along the cliff tops and then down the promenade past Boscombe and Bournemouth piers to finish at Pier Approach. The flat seafront stretch is made for PBs, and the Supernova 5K at twilight is pure family fun. Bournemouth has miles of sandy beaches and the Lower Gardens, with the Jurassic Coast and Old Harry Rocks close by.
