Brighton Marathon Weekend has been held every April since 2010 and draws up to 20,000 people across the marathon, the Brighton & Hove 10K and the Brighton Miles. The marathon starts in Preston Park, winds through the city and out along the chalk cliffs at Ovingdean, then finishes on the seafront. The course is undulating but friendly to first-timers and seasoned runners alike, with steel bands and thick crowds along the way. Brighton offers its Palace Pier, the exotic Royal Pavilion, the vintage shops and cafés of The Lanes, and the South Downs on its doorstep.
