Launched in 2026, the 'Tras las Huellas del Cid' race brings a half marathon back to Burgos after years without one. The flat, zero-elevation urban course runs east to west through Capiscol and Gamonal, Plaza del Cid, and the Paseo de los Cubos past the Arco de Santa María, one of the historic city gates beside the Gothic cathedral where El Cid and Doña Jimena are entombed. The 21 km distance is certified by the Spanish Athletics Federation for official record purposes.
