CagliariRespira is Sardinia's flagship half marathon, held on the first Sunday of December and, with its fun runs, drawing thousands of runners for well over a decade. The programme includes a half marathon, a relay, a 6 km open to all and kids' races. The course is a single loop through the city — colourful façades, palm trees and sea air — and past editions have had bands playing along the route. It is a warm, lively southern festival where you can race a half while northern Europe is already under snow. After the finish, climb to the Castello quarter and the Bastione di Saint Remy for city views, dine in the Marina district and catch the sunset on Poetto beach.
