The Cardiff Half has been held every October since 2003. It belongs to the SuperHalfs series and carries a World Athletics Elite label; in 2025 more than 27,500 places sold, with general entry gone in hours. The race starts outside Cardiff Castle, passes Cardiff City Stadium and the Principality Stadium, crosses Penarth Marina and the barrage into Cardiff Bay past the Norwegian Church and Wales Millennium Centre, loops Roath Park Lake and ends with a grandstand finish in the civic centre. It is largely flat, with loud, warm Welsh support, and runners raise more than £4 million a year for charity. Cardiff has its castle, the Bay waterfront and the Victorian market, with the Brecon Beacons a short drive away.
