Castellón de la Plana is a Mediterranean port city surrounded by extensive citrus groves, a produce the wider region is famous for across Spain. Organized by the Unió Atlètica Castelló running club, the Media Maratón de Castelló is the province's oldest road race, starting and finishing in the central Ribalta Park. Recent editions have set participation records, drawing over 3,400 runners on a fully flat course.
