The Causeway Coast Marathon, organised by 26 Extreme, runs each September along the Causeway Coastal Path in Northern Ireland, with shorter distances alongside the marathon. The out-and-back route passes the Giant's Causeway, White Park Bay and Ballintoy: clifftop singletrack, sand, mud, seaweed and a rock scramble at Portbraddon, with around 1,000 m of climbing. Support is sparse, so it feels like a true adventure, and the Atlantic views repay every hard mile. Afterwards, see the basalt columns of the Causeway, the Carrick-a-Rede rope bridge, Dunluce Castle and the historic Bushmills distillery.
