The Cheddar Gorge Challenge is the flagship event of small independent organiser Relish Running Races, held in June with a marathon, half marathon, 10K and 6K. The marathon is a fully off-road double loop through the Mendip Hills: ancient woodland, views from Black Down and the brutal Hell Steps, with more than 900 m of climbing. The vibe is friendly and intimate, and England's deepest gorge makes every mile scenic. In Cheddar village, taste cave-aged cheddar and explore Gough's Cave, with Wells Cathedral and Glastonbury nearby.
