Chudy Wawrzyniec is a mountain ultra in the Żywiec Beskids held in early August, rated among Poland's most iconic, technical and atmospheric races. It starts in Rajcza and finishes in Ujsoły, with a whole range of distances: the 2.9 km Muńcuł vertical plus 20.7, 50, 63, 80 and 100 km, with up to 5,100 m of climbing. Its signature twist: at kilometre 40 runners decide which distance they will finish. The course is known for brutal climbs below Wielka Rycerzowa and Muńcuł and technical descents over rocks and roots, and the long distances carry UTMB Index points. The Żywiec region offers mountain huts, Lake Żywiec and the famous brewery in Żywiec for a well-earned beer.
