The Corsa dei Castelli is one of north-east Italy's best-loved 10Ks: thousands run along the waterfront and through Trieste's historic centre, past castles and Baroque palaces, finishing on the vast seafront Piazza Unità d'Italia. The course is flat and fast, with a separate non-competitive start for amateurs. October weather is mild, though the famous Bora wind can appear.
