The CPC Loop (City–Pier–City) has been held in The Hague every March since 1975. The course is flat and very fast: in 2007 Samuel Wanjiru ran 58:33 here — a world record at the time and still the course record. The name describes the route: from the city to the Scheveningen pier by the sea and back. Besides the half there are 10 km and 5 km races. The Hague is the seat of government and the royal court: the Mauritshuis with Girl with a Pearl Earring, the Binnenhof, and the beach resort of Scheveningen within city limits.
