The Cursa dels Nassos is Barcelona's iconic year-end race, run every December 31 at 5:15pm through the streets of the city and now one of Spain's largest 10K events, drawing more than 13,000 runners. Start and finish sit on Carrer de la Selva de Mar in the Diagonal Mar district, with the flat, traffic-free course tracing the coastline through Poblenou, the Olympic Village, and the old quarters of Sant Pere, Santa Caterina i la Ribera. The fast, fully closed circuit makes it a favorite for personal bests, while a parallel elite 5K has hosted genuine world records, including performances by Berihu Aregawi and Beatrice Chebet. The mood is festive and almost carnival-like, with thousands of runners in New Year's costumes cheered on by locals lining the route. Crossing the finish line here means ringing in midnight already feeling like a winner.

The best way to close the year: you run along the sea with thousands of people around you in New Year's costumes, with champagne waiting at the finish. The atmosphere is unlike anything else.
