The RASA Druskininkai Marathon takes place in early May and draws several hundred runners across 500 m, 5 km, 10.5 km, half and full marathon distances — there's even a 5 km inline-skating race. Start and finish are by the picturesque Vijūnėlė pond, and the course follows excellent bike paths and trails along the Nemunas through the resort's pine forests, where the air is said to be healing. The vibe is intimate and warm, with awards after each race. Druskininkai is Lithuania's top spa resort: mineral springs and spas, a water park, the indoor Snow Arena ski slope, the Čiurlionis memorial museum and Grūtas Park with its Soviet sculptures.
