Dwars door Brugge ('Across Bruges') is one of Flanders' best-loved city runs, held on the second Sunday of May and drawing thousands of runners (organisers are targeting a record 8,500). The route threads past canals, the Belfry tower and the cobbled squares of the UNESCO-listed centre. Alongside the flagship 15 km there is a flat, mass-participation 5 km — a perfect straight-off-the-couch option for anyone wanting to run through one of Europe's most postcard-perfect cities. A kids' 1 km is also on the programme.
