ASML Marathon Eindhoven has been held on the second October weekend for over 40 years, drawing more than 38,000 runners and 200,000 spectators. The course is flat and fast — Kenneth Kipkemoi's 2:04:52 record (2023) places it among Europe's quickest marathons — finishing on the Vestdijk in the centre. Besides the marathon there are a half, a quarter marathon, 5 km, walks and kids' runs. Eindhoven is a city of design and technology: the Van Abbemuseum, the former Philips district Strijp-S with restaurants and galleries, and Dutch Design Week every October.
