The Erste Bank Vienna Night Run takes over Vienna's Ring on an autumn evening, and in 2025 it set a record of 22,000 runners. At just 5 km, it draws serious athletes, first-timers and whole groups of colleagues and friends. The course follows the Ringstrasse past the floodlit State Opera, Parliament, City Hall and Burgtheater, one of the most beautiful city loops in Europe. The organisers focus on community and sustainability, and the evening feels more like a huge street party than a race. Vienna is worth several days in its own right: the Hofburg and Schönbrunn palaces, world-class museums, coffee houses, schnitzel and new wine in the Heuriger taverns.
An easy run with a local club the day before the race — the best way to shake out the legs and meet the city.
