The Vilnius Christmas Run (run by the Eurovaistinė pharmacy chain) is the Lithuanian capital's most atmospheric 'running party': thousands gather by Vincas Kudirka Square on Gediminas Avenue and run or walk through the Christmas-decorated Old Town to music over 3, 6 or 12 km, many dressed as Santas, elves and reindeer. The route is flat and urban and the mood is family-friendly — more an Advent-lights festival than a race, ideal for beginners and for tourists visiting Vilnius's Christmas markets. It is held in early December.
