The Fingal 10K has been run in Swords, north Dublin, since 2012 on a July Sunday, opening the Dublin Race Series ahead of the Frank Duffy 10 Mile and the Dublin Half Marathon. It has drawn big numbers from day one and is one of the most popular 10Ks in Leinster. The course uses wide roads with long straights — not pancake-flat, but not tough either; pacers run for 45, 50, 55 and 60 minutes, and finishers get a race T-shirt. In Swords, visit the medieval Swords Castle, with Malahide Castle and its gardens and Fingal's seaside villages close by.
