Finlandia Marathon takes place in Jyväskylä over two days in mid-September and also hosts the Finnish national marathon championships. Besides the marathon and half there's the 10 km Valon Kymppi, a 5 km, a relay, a youth marathon and a fun run. The course follows the lakeside Rantaraitti path, awarded the title of Finland's most beautiful transport route — flat and fast, almost entirely on pedestrian and cycle paths. All distances start by the Paviljonki congress centre, with the event hub at Lutakonaukio. Jyväskylä is Alvar Aalto's town, with his museum and buildings, and a university city set in the Finnish Lakeland.
