Fjällmaraton Sälen by EQPE takes place in late August, when the ski resort of Sälen turns into a summer trail destination. The distances are 42 km with about 970 m of climbing, 21 km (about 680 m) and 10 km (about 320 m), so newcomers to mountain running have a way in too. The course climbs from the valley onto open, treeless fells with sweeping views over Dalarna, then returns through conifer forest, singletrack and heathland. In summer Sälen is about bike parks, hiking trails and lakes, and nearby Mora has the Zorn Museum, the Vasaloppet Museum and lovely Lake Siljan.
