The Florence Marathon starts and finishes at Piazza del Duomo, with nearly the entire historic center in between: Ponte Vecchio, the Pitti Palace, the banks of the Arno. The course is flat but winding, as if hand-drawn through narrow medieval streets. Every year the finisher medal is designed by the same Florentine artist, Susanna Alisi, drawing inspiration from Brunelleschi's dome one year and Dante the next. Late November here is cool and changeable — clear and cold one moment, rainy the next, so come prepared for either.

Official pasta party (Stazione Leopolda)
No single outside restaurant emerged as a runner favorite, but nearby Tamerò on Piazza Santo Spirito is well-regarded for fresh pasta, with a casual, no-reservation-required vibe.

An official pasta party before the race; on course after 15 km — fruit, cake, and energy bars.

DC Rainmaker (Ray Maker)2013

I aimed for 2:57 and finished in 3:17. The course is flat but so winding through the historic center it felt hand-drawn.

Tammy (Tammy on the Run)2023

One noticeable hill around km 34-35, otherwise flat. The Duomo finish is one of the best backdrops I've seen for a finish line.
