Frauenfelder

Der Frauenfelder grew out of the Frauenfelder Militärwettmarsch, a military race-march held since 1934, and remains the best-known autumn marathon in Eastern Switzerland, run in mid-November. The classic course goes from Frauenfeld to Wil and back across hilly Thurgau, on country roads and through woods and villages, while the half marathon starts in Wil. What makes it unique is the Military March, in which participants in uniform cover the same 42 km carrying a backpack, alongside ordinary marathoners and juniors. Frauenfeld is the capital of the canton of Thurgau, with a 13th-century castle, and Lake Constance, apple orchards and Wil's old town are nearby.
