Run Galway Bay is Galway's autumn race day in early October, with a marathon, half marathon and a 10K run/walk that supports Cancer Care West. The course is billed as 'fast, flat, fun and scenic': loops follow Galway Bay from the historic Claddagh along the Salthill promenade to Blackrock and back. Start and finish are by the event tent in the Claddagh, overlooking the water and the swans at the mouth of the Corrib. Galway is a city of festivals and music — the Latin Quarter, the Spanish Arch, buskers on Shop Street — with Connemara and the Aran Islands on the doorstep.
