The Great Ireland Run is Ireland's best-known mass 10K, held each spring in Dublin's Phoenix Park. The scenic loop runs on paved park avenues past the President's residence (Áras an Uachtaráin), the Papal Cross and the Furry Glen; the profile is gently undulating (about 55 m of climb) with a short rise near 3 km. Up to 4,500 runners and walkers take part and it doubles as the Irish national 10K championship. Handy for visitors — the start is just 20 minutes from Dublin city centre.
