Hämeenlinna City Marathon is organised by the Hämeenlinnan Tarmo club in late July. Choose the marathon, half marathon or 10 km, with the longer races starting around midday. Start, finish and race centre are at the renovated Kauriala field (MV-Stadion), with the course heading out through the town. It's an intimate summer race with a friendly, local feel. Hämeenlinna offers the medieval Häme Castle on Lake Vanajavesi, Sibelius's birthplace museum and Aulanko park with its lookout tower.
