High Coast Ultra is a summer ultra near Örnsköldsvik with distances of roughly 56 and 130 km, the longer one climbing more than 3,200 m. The route follows the famous Höga Kustenleden trail through the UNESCO-listed High Coast: rocky ridges above the Gulf of Bothnia, forested slopes and Skuleskogen National Park with its narrow Slåttdalsskrevan gorge, finishing at the northern end of the High Coast Bridge. The terrain is technical, the race is semi-autonomous and the field is capped to protect the landscape, making it an intimate and genuinely wild event with UTMB Index status. The High Coast has the world's highest post-glacial land uplift, along with fishing villages, surströmming and sea kayaking between the islands.
