Craft Idre Fjällmaraton

Craft Idre Fjällmaraton is a summer mountain race at the Idre Fjäll resort in western Dalarna, right by the Norwegian border. The distances are named after northern wildlife: the Grouse trail (8 km), Wolf (18 km), Bear (28 km) and Reindeer (45 km), so there is an option for a first taste of the mountains and for a proper challenge. The course crosses treeless plateaus and stony slopes, boggy patches and birch woods, all under the pyramid of Städjan (1,131 m), which local tradition says inspired the writing of the Swedish national anthem. This is Sweden's southernmost reindeer grazing land, so meeting a herd on the trail is a real possibility. In summer Idre is about hiking, fishing, paddling and Sami culture, and in winter it is one of Sweden's favourite ski resorts.
