Internationaler Kärnten Marathon (Ossiacher See)

The Internationaler Kärnten Marathon in Feldkirchen is a late-September running festival that bills itself as the only full-distance marathon in Carinthia. Besides the marathon there is a 50 km super marathon, a half marathon, a quarter marathon, a city run, kids' races and walking. The marathon loop leaves the Amthof car park in central Feldkirchen, heads north and west through the Bleistätter Moor nature reserve, a Natura 2000 site, and follows the Ossiacher See on the Bleistätter Slow Trail and the Alpe Adria Trail. It is rolling but scenic, with lake, wetland meadows and the Nock mountains on the horizon. Around the Ossiacher See there is swimming and paddleboarding in summer, Ossiach Abbey, Landskron castle and nearby Villach.
