The Mattoni Karlovy Vary Half Marathon is a RunCzech evening half in mid-May; in 2025 it started at 6pm and sold out with around 3,800 runners. The start is on the Osvobození embankment, and the World Athletics-certified, traffic-free course winds through the spa district — along the colonnades, past the Thermal and Pupp hotels and other UNESCO World Heritage sights. The Teplá valley adds a few undulations, but the men's course record is 1:00:54, so it can be fast. The evening spa atmosphere, music and spectators on the colonnades make it special. Karlovy Vary offers mineral springs, Becherovka, spa wafers and the Diana lookout above town.
