The Kerry Way Ultra starts in early September at Killarney Racecourse: the main event is about 200 km on the Kerry Way around the Iveragh Peninsula, plus a 101 km night start from Dromid, a 58 km UltraLite from Sneem, and relays. In 2026, 128 runners from Ireland and abroad took on the full distance, and entry requires two marathons or an ultra in the previous year. The route passes Lord Brandon's Cottage, Glencar, Glenbeigh, Waterville, Caherdaniel, Sneem and Kenmare — mountain paths, bog, stone, sleepers and road — with a 36- or 40-hour limit depending on the wave. Killarney is the gateway to its national park, with lakes, Ross Castle and Muckross House, while the Ring of Kerry is one of Ireland's most beautiful drives.
